The meaning associated with various colors goes way way way back. Yellow is symbolic of both friendship and cowardice. Blue (light) is commonly associated with the Virgin Mary. White means purity and innocence, thus a white wedding dress. But in China brides where red --- long story. It's kind of cool, but a bit weird.
